freckles & fire: the story so far....
Humm… Long or short version? Now I have never been good at that nutshell communication. I’m a talker – I’ll apologise now for that – but I reckon that it’s probably likely that you didn’t come on here to read my life story (I won’t take that personally!!).
So here goes my attempt at short.
Grown up career in marketing and branding. In London. Insert kiddies x 2 = removal of life as I once knew it. If I am brutally honest with myself a stay at home mummy life was just not for me – I love my monkeys but I love them more when I have had a bit of ‘me time’. So after much procrastination (I’m also VERY good at that!) freckles & fire was born in 2015 (yes, in child development stages I should be just about be starting early years schooling by now…).
Fast forward 10 insane years (and let's not even touch on the 2020-21 mash up) and the business is much different to its newborn days. We've developed, flexibly curved around corners and shifted. There is so much to come and the future is hopefully brimming with fabulous collaborations, more kits, and a whole lot more fun. All wrapped up in a cosy, cuddly, covid-free future. Wouldn't that be just gorgeous?!
My wish list 2025 is filled with:
A wholesale dream. Getting freckles out to different corners of the UK, stocked in independent spaces and reaching crafty hearts so they can indulge in some serious creative pampering!
The return of gorgeous markets - we took a hit in 2024 and didn’t really participate in many makers fairs and its fair to say we have MISSED them! Meeting the customers, getting feedback and most of loving the parential ‘don’t touch’ as mini hands explore our kits (my response is ALWAYS ‘they can touch, I think my kits would be rather average if children didn’t want to pick up and play with them!’).
Def more kiddies’ parties (hubbie thinks I am totally crazy but I LOVE working with little ones, maybe something to do with my own mental age?).
Oh and finally the lifelong desire to collab with a charity to create a kit that brings meaning, joy and delight in some of life’s darkest times!
Oh gosh – this is not at all short. I’m stopping. RIGHT NOW, but actually last thing – please enjoy this website – browse around, check out my tutorial section to get down and dirty with our DIY kits and even give crochet a go, if you’re local keep in touch with our workshops and classes and of course please sign up to our newsletter as one day I may actually have my shizzle in order and write one!
